Privacy Policy

Effective and last updated: October 27, 2026

This policy covers the VRN Browser app for iPhone, iPad, Mac, Android, Windows and Linux, published by VRN Digital (“we”, “us”). The VRN Digital website has its own privacy policy.

1. Summary

VRN Browser is built so that we never receive your data. The app has no accounts on our servers, no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising and no cloud sync. What you browse stays on your device and between you and the websites you choose to visit.

2. Data we do not collect

VRN Browser does not collect, transmit to us, sell or share:

  • •Browsing history, searches, URLs or page content
  • •Names, email addresses, phone numbers or other contact details
  • •Device identifiers, advertising identifiers or IP addresses
  • •Location, contacts, photos, camera or microphone data
  • •Usage statistics, diagnostics or crash logs

The app contains no third-party analytics or advertising SDKs.

3. Data stored on your device

Some information is kept locally so the app can work. It never leaves your device through us.

3.1 Guest sessions

Guest visits are never written to history. Website data such as cookies, cache and local storage is held by your system's web engine and is cleared every time a guest session starts, when you sign out and when you use panic wipe.

3.2 Optional local profile

If you create a profile, the app stores a password hash derived with Argon2id (never the passphrase itself) and up to 500 recent visits encrypted with AES-GCM. The encryption key is kept in your device's secure keystore (Keychain on Apple devices, Android Keystore on Android, the Windows credential store on Windows and the Secret Service keyring on Linux). There is no recovery copy: if you forget the passphrase, the profile can only be reset.

3.3 Settings and proxy details

Preferences such as timers and blocking options are stored locally. Proxy addresses and credentials you enter are encrypted on the device.

3.4 Activity log

The security log shown in the app (for example, connections opened and blocked trackers) is kept in memory only and is discarded when the app closes.

4. Network connections

VRN Browser only connects to the internet when you ask it to, and never to VRN Digital servers. Connections go to:

  • •The websites you open, directly from your device in a normal tab
  • •The Tor network, when you open a Tor tab. Tor relays route your traffic so the sites you visit do not see your IP address
  • •The proxy server you configure, when you open a proxy tab. That proxy's operator can see your traffic, so only use proxies you trust

On Android and Mac, the optional Device Firewall filters other apps' connections on your device using the allowlist you choose. That traffic is not routed through any VRN Digital server.

5. Websites you visit

Websites you open may collect information under their own privacy policies, which we do not control. VRN Browser blocks known trackers, upgrades connections to HTTPS and blocks access to local network addresses, but no browser can stop a site from using what you choose to share with it, such as the details you type into a form or the account you sign in to.

6. Device permissions

  • •Camera, microphone, location and similar requests from websites are denied automatically.
  • •Face ID, Touch ID or fingerprint unlock is handled entirely by your operating system. The app only receives a yes or no result and never sees biometric data.
  • •On Android, the Device Firewall uses the system VPN permission to filter traffic locally. It is off unless you turn it on.

7. App stores and platforms

VRN Browser is distributed through the Apple App Store and Google Play, and as a direct download for Windows and Linux. Direct downloads do not report anything to us. Apple and Google may collect information about your download and device under their own policies. If you have opted in to share diagnostics with app developers in your device settings, Apple or Google may provide us with aggregated, anonymous crash and usage reports. We use these only to fix problems.

8. Support requests

If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in the message. We use it only to reply and to fix the issue you report, we do not add you to marketing lists, and we delete the correspondence once it is no longer needed to support you. Please do not send passphrases or browsing history; we will never ask for them.

9. Children

VRN Browser gives unrestricted access to the web and is not directed at children under 13. Because we collect no personal data, we do not knowingly collect data from children.

10. Your choices and rights

All app data is under your control on your device. Use panic wipe to clear website data, Clear history or Reset profile to remove profile data, or uninstall the app to remove everything. Depending on where you live (for example under the GDPR or CCPA), you may have rights to access or delete personal data we hold. The only personal data we could hold is support correspondence; contact us to exercise those rights.

11. Security

Profile history and proxy credentials are encrypted at rest, keys live in the system keystore and the app seals idle connections automatically. No system is perfectly secure: the app cannot protect against a compromised or jailbroken operating system. Please report vulnerabilities through the support page.

12. Changes to this policy

If we change how VRN Browser handles data, we will update this page and the date at the top before the change takes effect. Significant changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
